Hello! My name is Rihan Joseph, and I am passionate about helping students learn in a way that makes them feel confident, supported, and capable. I have experience tutoring primary students, and I have also worked closely with young children in educational settings, including students with different learning styles and abilities. My teaching style is patient, interactive, and adaptable. I understand that every child learns differently, so I take the time to explain concepts in ways that best suit each student’s needs. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow academically. Parents and students can expect lessons that are personalized, engaging, and focused on building both understanding and confidence. Classroom-hours experience

“I have worked as a Student Aide at Eucharist Lewis S.D.A. Primary School from 2024 to the present, assisting a child on the autism spectrum from age four to six in a classroom setting. Throughout my time with him, I have learned a lot about children on the spectrum and how different their needs can be from day to day. One of my responsibilities is helping to manage his eating habits and sensory needs. He has very specific food preferences that change often, so I work closely with his parents to make sure he is eating enough during the school day. For example, one week he may eat rice and chicken every day, and the next week he may suddenly refuse it completely. I communicate these changes with his parents and help try different foods. He also refuses to drink water and only drinks tea, so I prepare tea for him throughout the day with more water than tea to help keep him hydrated. I have seen major progress in him since kindergarten. At first, he avoided eye contact while speaking, struggled with social interaction, and noisy environments often caused him to become overwhelmed. He also had difficulty staying in the classroom and would frequently try to run outside or constantly move around the room. Over time, he became much more settled, began interacting with classmates, learned to better manage overstimulation, and now gets along very well with other students. I introduced sensory supports such as blocks and clay of different textures to help keep him calm and focused during class. I also learned to schedule regular breaks on the playground, on the classroom mat, and in the school library so he would not become overstimulated. Some days were much more challenging than others, but this experience taught me patience, flexibility, and the importance of individualized support for children with special needs.”
