Shivan Persad Maharaj is a dedicated law graduate who completed his LL.B. at the University of the West Indies, graduating with First-Class Honours. He also holds a BSc in Geography and Environmental Science, providing him with a strong interdisciplinary academic foundation. During his studies, he gained experience tutoring and mentoring first- and second-year law students in foundational legal subjects through structured, in-person sessions held in university library study rooms. His approach focuses on breaking down complex legal concepts into clear, practical explanations, with an emphasis on understanding, application, and confidence-building rather than memorisation. He is skilled at simplifying difficult material and guiding students through reasoning and problem-solving techniques in a patient and supportive manner. Having benefited from academic support himself, he is committed to passing that guidance forward and helping students succeed both academically and personally.
